Alterations and Extensions

Extensions tend to form part of our work where there is something more interesting or challenging about the project — perhaps a Listed Building, a difficult site, or an extension that forms part of a wider refurbishment and improvement of the house.

We have particular experience in combining extensions and alterations with the sensitive refurbishment of historic buildings, including projects where improved energy performance needs to be balanced carefully with the character and fabric of the original property.

Rather than treating an extension as an isolated addition, we prefer to consider how it can contribute to the house as a whole: improving the relationship between spaces, bringing in better light, making stronger connections with the garden and, where appropriate, forming part of a wider programme of environmental improvement.
